Hi David,
I went to http://www.theage.com.au/ and did an archive search
on malta and swans
going back 3 months, as I wanted a link to put in the newsletter.
I could not find any references ?

Is this quite a good source?
I am always suspicious of the hunters trying to set us up ;-(

The Age is the "serious" newspaper of Melbourne, Australia's second city,
with a weekday circulation about 200,000.

The Age (www.theage.com.au), Monday February 25, 2002, p7.

"MALTA

Outrage over slaughter of protected swans

ROME. The slaughter of a herd of protected swans has caused international
outrage and prompted calls from animal welfare groups for Malta to be
barred from entering the European Union.

The birds were shot in St Thomas Bay, on Malta, in front of horrified
families on a Sunday afternoon last month by three hunters, who escaped in
a speedboat. Witnesses said eight swans, including a cygnet, were killed.
Malta's record on animal protection is not good. Three million birds are
trapped or shot every year as they stop off on the island.

Songbirds are sold at market, while birds of prey are killed and stuffed."

I'll send the fax too.

Cheers

Pa.... Fo..............
