Last year when I went on a birding-watching tour of Costa Rica I noticed
that Callistemons were very widely planted in gardens in various parts of
that country, and I saw several species of hummingbird take advantage of
them.
I would imagine that calistemons are also widely planted in the US, and
elsewhere in Central and South America.
(And, for obvious reasons, almost every picture you see of a hummingbird is
taken either at a feeder, or in a hummingbird garden, rather than in the
forests).
