Regarding my recent request for the Albany Island records of Magnificent Riflebird, my thanks to Bob Forsyth who raided his archives of Emu and sent me what I needed. I now have another more obscure query and I am hoping some scholars out there can help me. Reading the historical text the Magnificent Riflebird on Cape York is called Jagoonya by the local aborigines. Can anyone advise me what the name would mean and which language or cultural group it would come from? Thanks and good birding.
