Hi all,
I have already contacted Terry privately. I'm especially happy that Terry
went in with an approach which was gentle and encouraging for all parties
concerned. I believe that this approach enables private landholders to
respond positively and not to have to defend themselves, as is often the
case with militant environmentalists who sometimes back them into a corner.
If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but it's worth using as an initial
approach. In any case, these days there is more awareness among landholders
of the strength of some of the environmental legislation. Well done, Terry.
You'll still need to keep your eye on the landholders, as a change of
manager can mean a change of attitude, whereupon you need to start the
education process all over again. I think the key is getting the landholders
to own the problem.
My dismal husband said to me the other day, "You have to win every time;
developers only have to win once." I could have done without that.
Cheers,
Jill
