Hi Everyone,
Earlier today I had my video camera zoomed in on a bird bath filming whatever birds came through when something caught my eye. An immature White-naped Honeyeater flew in for a drink and I noticed that its beak was wide open when it landed. He stayed for over a minute and did not close its beak once even when drinking. The bird seemed to have difficulty swallowing and when it flew off the beak was still wide open. It was not the same as the open beaked panting action that I've noticed the birds do on a hot day. The beak was jarred open with no movement at all. Does anyone know what the problem may be, if any? Has anyone seen this sort of thing before? Cheers,
