A very pleasant Sunday to all.
A few flurries of snow in this tiny corner of Scotland,
the north of the country is gripped in the teeth of a blizzard, many people
having to be rescued from cars, but then again this is Scotland in winter.
In my world of birds the high winds are playing havoc with my new found
skill (not)
of digiscoping, but to more serious issues positive and negative.

See the questions tabled on Cyprus killing and netting by British MEP
Chris Davies, supported byDiana Wallis MEP  and the recent reply from the
Commission

UK eggers rear their ugly little heads again at

Beware of these people, there is no limits as to the deviousness they will
attempt to achieve their goals.
My advice is the common sense strategy, never discuss out of public domain
rare bird breeding sites on the internet,or for that matter with strangers.

I do hope everyone managed to read the excellent news from Slovakia. As some
of you may  know I am very good at blowing my own trumpet, well I am more
that happy to be able to reach the highest notes with Proact's bugle,as we
can take credit for some involvement in a successful campaign to persuade
the Slovakian Government to confer national park status
upon the Slovak karst.

We have also" done our bit" in causing the Governments of both Malta and
Cyprus to sit bolt upright, and take notice of wildlife issues, see the
letters from the Maltese President's office at
http://www.proactnow.org/maltabulletins2002/id60.html

and the Cyprus campaign at

It would appear that Greenland is not the only country having problems with
murres,
known as guillemots in the UK see
http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/1673284p-1748693c.html

You can be part of a team of volunteers simply fighting for the right of
birds to survive,
all you need is a love of wildlife and a few minutes to join our team
Do it for the birds.
