Two unusual sightings for my area of suburban Sydney around Ryde.

Today around midday I heard an unusual parrot call while visiting the corner
shops at the intersection of Charles Street and Morrison Road, Putney.
Several Musk Lorikeet were busy feeding with Rainbow Lorikeet on flowering
red bottlebrush in street plantings next to the supermarket. Noisy Miner and
Red Wattlebirds were hassling each other amongst adjacent shrubs but were
ignored by the lorikeets.

On 9 February, again around midday, 20+ White-throated Needletail passed
over a backyard in suburban North Ryde heading south in a very low flying
(10m) loose flock. The weather was fine but very humid. We have had very
unsettled weather here for the last few weeks.

In over ten years, I have seen neither species in the area before.
