Yesterday afternoon I listened to a White-browed Scrubwren in my garden
performing a stream of subdued mimicry (including a very good rendition of
Eastern Spinebill) interspersed with its own louder, harsh calls. It
continued this for about 5 minutes without stopping.

The White-browed Scrubwren is included in Alec Chisholm's list of 52
Australian species that mimic (included in Pauline Reilly's book "The
Lyrebird", p.41) but most other references I have checked make no mention
of it. Of course its relative the Yellow-throated Scrubwren is an
accomplished mimic.

Cheers

Carol
