Hello all,

I recorded my first sighting of a Spangled Drongo for 2002 today, 8/2/2002, at
7:15 am.

This appears to be almost exactly one month later than last year.

Last year I heard the first Drongo on 10th of Jan; the first visual record was
on 12th Jan.
By the second week in Feb, 2001, they were fairly 'common'.

I may actually have heard a Drongo call earlier this year but as they often
imitate Pied Butcherbirds (common around my place) I cannot be 100% sure.
One or two of the Pied Butcherbird calls I have heard lately have been a bit
'sus' but I am claiming today's sighting as the first record in my area for the
year.

Note: The other 'drongos' are in permanent residence and some are even breeding,
unfortunately.

Cheers
