Migrating birds
I would like to pose a tricky legal question. To whom do free birds,
especially
those migrating, belong? Do birds form part of the environment?...
...If legally this is the case, then can any person, or group of persons sue
the
hunter/s for damages? To me it seems that the answer is yes...
...I would say that the time is now ripe to move from just verbal protests
into
actual action through the channels of the law. Can any society or legal
expert
comment on this?

Dismay at illegal hunting
The Coordinating Committee on Eco-Tourism Year 2002 set up jointly by the
ministers of tourism and environment has expressed dismay at the effects of
illegal hunting on the tourism industry.
The committee said the horrific shooting of the mute swans in St Thomas Bay
had
left the majority of Maltese seething with anger and was the culmination of
a
series of damaging incidents for the tourism industry.

Act now
by Chris Lamsdell, Iver Heath, Bucks, UK.
Surely, now after the recent killing of the mute swans, the Maltese
authorities
will do more to stop the needless killing of wild birds on the island.
Please
act now!
