Yesterday I observed 2 Crested Shrike-Tits at Swanport Reserve about 4 km
south of Murray Bridge in South Australia (35 9 15 S 139 18 42 E). This
reserve is on the banks of the Murray River.
This is the first time I have recorded this species in the Murray Bridge
area (over 18 years of observations), the closest other record of mine was
at Mannum (Waterfalls Reserve) some 25 km north of here nearly 3 years ago.
This species is more likely to be seen in the Mt Lofty Ranges here in SA but
in my experience seems not to be plentiful anywhere in SA. My only other
records are from the Clare Valley area (140 km north of Adelaide) over 20
years ago.
