While travelling north for a weeks holiday on 12 January I was surprised
to see some Magpie Geese on a wetland just north of Taree.

9 geese were present on a wetland just south of the Dawson River between
Chatham (the northern most Taree suburb) and Cundletown. This is on the
old Pacific Highway, not the current route that bypasses Taree.

The nearest regular sites are near Grafton, some 300km to the north, and
the lower Hunter, 150km to the south.
