g'day all,
Introduced birds have upset our biodiversity. Spamming is
the next big worry.
I note that some Birding-Aus subscribers are including their
email address at the bottom of their message.
I suggest they do not ! Treat it like your
PIN.
Spammers (automatically) regularly trawl through Newsgroups
seeking email addresses to add to their files.
When I first got onto the internet I included my address in my
signature block and that old address is now on a
spammer's list !
I now get about 3 Spams a day and the frequency is
increasing.
Unfortunately, the ISP (who got taken over) continues to
divert mail from my old address to my new one...in spite of repeated follow-ups
to stop !
If a recipient does want to determine the sender's address
that can be done (in MS Outlook Express) by
... place the arrow on the message and "right
click"
... move the arrow down to "Properties" and "left
click"
Likewise, if you do want to add the sender to your address
book , one method is
... "right click" on the message and then
... "left click" on "Add Sender to Address
Book"
Using the "Block Senders" facility in the "Message" drop down
folder is a waste of time as Spammers use a new address each time.
but I do use "Message Rules" to move most Spam into a special
folder but that still needs clearing.
For business activities I suggest you even use another email
address.
Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
