Spotting the first new bird for the year is always a treat. Mine was really spotted, a Spotted Harrier, hunting calmly a few feet off the ground and so close we didn't need bins. magnificent exciting bird that hopefully may still be around when we go back this afternoon. (near G. Station on the Capertee-Glen Davis Rd Capertee Valley NSW , where the smoke has blown away.)
