Spotting the first new bird
for the year is always a treat.

Mine was really spotted,
a Spotted Harrier,
hunting calmly a few feet off the ground
and so close we didn't need bins.

magnificent exciting bird
that hopefully may still be around
when we go back this afternoon.

(near G. Station on the Capertee-Glen Davis Rd
Capertee Valley NSW , where the smoke has blown away.)
