Torres Strait cruise on the Jodi Anne, August 2002 --- Itinerary
Wed. 21
Board Jodi Anne at Horne Island from 15.30. (There are two Qantas planes
daily from Cairns arriving at 10.15 & 15.05).Depart at 17.00 for overnight
sail to Boigu Island.
Thu. 22
Arrive Boigu Is. early morning and bird ashore returning to boat for
meals. Stay two days one night. Spend one or more days around the settlement,
and part of second day at creek on south coast.
Fri. 23
Boigu. Sail (c.4 hrs.) overnight to Duaun.
Sat. 24
Duaun. Move to Saibai (1.5 hrs.) after dark.
Sun. 25 Saibai for two days and
one night.
Mon. 26
Depart Saibai after dark for overnight sail to Darnley Island (12-14
hrs.).
Tue. 27
Darnley Island, stay two days and one night.
Wed. 28
Depart Darnley after dark for Dove Islet (7 hrs) and Sue (Warraber)
Island enroute to Horne Island.
Thu. 29
Early morning, ashore on Dove Islet then move (2.5 hrs.) on to Sue Island
for an afternoon ashore. Overnight to Horne.
Fri. 30
Arrive Horne Island 09.00. Fly out at 10.35 or 15.25.
There is a possibility of a second cruise on the same
itinerary departing immediately following this. An alternative to this repeat
cruise (in early September), is also being considered, viz. a cruise to Raine
Island and into the Coral Sea.
There are 10 berths available and these must be filled or
paid for. 14 persons have already expressed interest but it is likely that
several will drop out. The cost per person is $2,400.00. We must make a positive
commitment by end of February and pay a deposit to Jodi Anne Charters of $480.00
by 1 May.
