For information of the list.

The Victorian Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) has made a number of
Preliminary Recommendations to the Minister for Environment & Conservation that
the following avifauna be recommended for listing as threatened taxa under the
Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988.

These and other recommendations were advertised for public comment in the media
(Age & Weekly Times) just before Christmas 2001.

Closing date for public comment either supporting or rejecting the
recommendations is 30 January 2002.

Each item has a short Recommendation Report describing how the taxon meets the
criteria under the Act.  These are public documents and available to upon
request.

If anyone is interested in further details, please contact me off the list.

                        Calidris tenuirostris Great Knot
                      Coracina maxima Ground Cuckoo-Shrike
                   Heteroscelus brevipes Grey-tailed Tattler
