Chukar was a new bird for me last year, but well within its natural range. There I was in the Chung Kemin Gorge, about 1500m ASL in eastern Kyrgyzstan ... Chukar partridges scuttling about on the scree, Eurasian Jays tree-topping, and a flock of 6 Eurasian Griffon (vultures) soaring overhead. Nup - don't think I'll bother getting shot on Flinders Island for feral Chukars!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Lawrie Conole 2/37 Myrnong Crescent, Ascot Vale Vic 3032 AH 03 9370 3928 Mob 0419 588 993 Senior Zoologist Ecology Australia Pty Ltd 88 B Station Street, Fairfield Vic 3078 BH 03 9489 4191 Fax 03 948 7679 +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
