g'day all,
I checked out 3 bays on the west side of Lake Moondarra today.
Gone were the ...
Oriental Pratincole, Little Curlew, Red-necked Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit,
Black-fronted
Dotterel (except for one)

Still present were .....
Wood, Marsh and Sharp-tailed Sandpipers (but numbers were well down)

Other birds present included ..........
Black-tailed Native-hen (perhaps 200 down from the max of 500)
Royal Spoonbill (50), Black Swan (100), Red-kneed Dotterel (30)
Plumed Whistling-duck (100), Green Pygmy-goose (2)
Brown Songlark (10) scattered and feeding in 100mm grass.
Australian Bustard (1) It continued to drink for 4 mins after I sighted it.

I now recognise my earlier 27/12/01 UFO was a Male Brown Songlark in moult
plumage.
The Pied Heron was missing from the Sewage Ponds yesterday.

Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
