Just a quick message to apologise publicly for unwittingly propagating a
hoax-virus, yesterday I received a email from a friend in UK informing
me that he thought that I had a virus, I checked and found the file on
my hard-disk, followed his instructions, deleted it and (in a moment of
stupidity!) promptly send a message to everyone on my address book
(hundreds as Netscape 6.2 'collects' incoming addresses automatically)
to inform them that they should look out for it. Unfortunately 5 minutes
later I thought that I should check over the 'net to see what type of
virus it was and realised that I was just spreading a virus-hoax,
related to the sulfnbk file. It is a part of the Windows operating
system and needn't be removed, although some have informed that it can
be used by the 'magistr' virus to propagate itself. I have not
re-installed this file and my system appears to be running correctly,
although if anyone can tell me otherwise I would be grateful for their
advice.
Sorry again,
Tom
