Bee-eater Nest Tunnel Length?

Hello All,

At work today I had a request from a lady who wanted to know how long is aBee-eater's nesting tunnel. Apparently she was concerned that nearbyconstruction work on an irrigation channel might cause the destruction ofthe nest. I suggested that it would be less than one metre but it I had toadmit that I didn't know for sure. I've since read that Cayley says thatthe hole tends to be between 1 and 3 feet.


So, does anyone have any further observations on this matter?
