Hi Irene
Interesting to hear about your Grey butcherbird. We have a pied butcherbird
that sits on our verandah and we have watched him mimic a budgie, canary,
kookaburra, galah, magpie, grey butcherbird and a dog barking! It sometimes
sits there for about 20 minutes doing his repertoire - very entertaining and
clever!

Subject: Grey Butcherbird as a Mimic
Recently I was inside and heard a Common Myna making a strange sound. Or so
I thought.
When I looked out the window, a Grey Butcherbird was sitting only 1 metre
away on the gate. It proceeded to give a concert
of:
Common Myna
Australian Magpie
Noisy Miner
Eastern Rosella
Pied Currawong
I'm not sure I would have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
