Sorry folks, I try to lighten up these trip reports a little, but the
sightings and reported sites are real. They didn't REALLY blindfold us on
the way to the Red Goshawk site and Lotus Bird Lodge WILL direct or show
bona fide birders to the nest, the last of three local nests, the other two
having been destroyed.
The golden backed (not Golden-backed) form of Red-browed Finch is indeed
subspecies "minor", no a split, my term descriptive only.
Re White-browed and Buff-sided Robins, "superciliosa" and
"cerviniventris". As you suggest Robert, Shodde has split off previous
subspecies or races in several cases, and his publication THE DIRECTORY OF
AUSTRALIAN BIRDS is authorative. I don't know whether it needs peer review
or what. Does anyone?
