The CEO of Birds Australia Mr Jim Downey yesterday advised the Committee of The 
Rotamah Island Bird Observatory that he would recommending to the Council of BA 
the closure of RIBO in the first week of January 2002. That he had already 
instructed the Wardens to take no bookings and cancel activities beyond this 
calendar year and that the Wardens were to be relocated to the Birds Australia 
Broome Observatory.

Anyone who wishes further information on this matter or who might wish to make 
comment on the proposed abandonment of RIBO after more than 20 years of 
effective service to the birding community of Victoria can contact Keith Murray
