Is anyone interested in sharing costs for a trip to Broome for 4 to 7 days
in January or February? There are cheap airfare packages going from Perth
for $500 to $700 including accommodation. I assume that there would be
similar packages from elsewhere in Australia?
This trip would be a bit of a twitch, although the main species that I
would be looking for would be Grass Owl, plus Tawny Grassbird for my Broome
list.
I might get lucky if there is a cyclone or storm which could produce a
swift, wagtail, or something different. I know where to find most of the
Broome specialties.
I would be going to Derby for one day. I was thinking of organising one,
two or three days with one of the local tour operators to get access to
some of the better sites on Roebuck Plains station (if the tracks are open).
We would need to hire a small 4WD (RAV4) for about $80 to $100 per day, or
if there were 3 or 4 people then a Landcruiser for $100 to $120 a day.
I am not sure of the dates yet. I have a few commitments. Possible
periods could be during :
Friday 11th to Sunday 20th January
Friday 8th February to Sunday 24th February
