Hi Birds,
John Clifton-Everest raised the question of an influx of White-winged Trillers in coastal NSW and I think that he is right. The first indication of a movement towards the coast was on 9 October when an AM was seen at Woodenbong (north of Kyogle, on the NSW North Coast) and again on the following day by members of the Gould League camp. Edwin Vella then saw them at Doonside and Prospect Reservoir, in Sydney's Western suburbs on 20 October, an AM in the park at Gloucester in the Hunter Region same day seen by AKM, John Clifton-Everest had them at Bardwell Park in Sydney 's Eastern suburbs on 22 October, 4 at the Richmond Turf farms on 23 October and they are still there. This would seem to indicate that a movement towards the coast is underway. Whether they stay to breed is of interest and only time will tell. While an odd bird is seen most years around Sydney and Newcastle, the number seen this spring is more than usual.
