Finished leading a three week VENT tour on the 21.10.01 recording 415
species with the group. Visited Sydney, Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, Victoria
River, Timber Creek, Alice Springs and the West MacDonnells before driving
to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Flew to Brisbane birding O'Reillys and the Canungra
Valley before heading to North Queensland at Kingfisher Park and Cairns with
a day on the outer reef.

Sydney highlights-Black-bellied Storm-petrel on the pelagic and Pilotbirds
feeding on the trail at RNP.

Darwin highlights- Flock Pigeon, Swinhoe's Snipe, Beach Stone-curlew, Rufous
Owl with many thanks to Niven McCrie.

Kakadu highlights- Mangrove Golden Whistler at Adelaide River, Banded
Fruit-dove and Black Wallaroo at Nourlangie. Swinhoe's Snipe at Yellow
Water.

Pine Creek-Hooded Parrots

Victoria River-Gouldian Finch, Purple-crowned Fairy-wren and a Northern
Nail-tailed Wallaby in Gregory National Park.

Uluru-if you can you should go because it has been raining heavily,
everything is blooming and the desert is alive with Pied Honeyeaters,
Budgerigars, Crimson Chats and more. Erldunda was great for Bourke's
Parrots, Cinnamon Quail-thrush and the like.

O'Reilly's- birding with Tim picked up some bonus species such as Red-browed
Treecreeper, Speckled Warbler, Baillon's Crake and Striped Honeyeater. Some
of the group saw an Albert's Lyrebird and everyone could not get over having
Regent Bowerbirds, King Parrots feeding from your hands.

North Queensland- had single BBPKingfisher on Mt. Lewis on the 18.10 and
another at Kingfisher Park on the 19.10 so we were very lucky they were
about a week early arriving. In Julatten State Forest also had a pair of
Chestnut-breasted Cuckoos. Did really well for all endemics including
Blue-faced Parrot-finch. A pair of Black-throated Finches at Mareeba Wetland
Centre were also lucky as they have been tough at this site recently.
