A Lewin's Rail was seen today at Point Clare(Central Coast NSW).

It was observed from the  foreshore walking track, walking around bushes in the backyard of a property that fronts onto the track at about 5.15 pm.

The location is the corner of Fisher Rd, Point Clare and the walking track and is the property with the clothes line in the back yard. The bird was observed around the bushes on the left but was seen well on the lawn and the drive way. I checked with the resident and it is there permanently and they feed it bread.

The 1999 Central Coast Bird Report lists the Lewin's Rail as a rare resident with only one sighting in 1999 at the usual spot at Mill Creek at Dharug NP, so this is a significant sighting.
