Hi all,
At Mitchell Park n/w of Sydney on the 9th Cicada
bird and Brush Cuckoos were calling. The Little bronze
cuckoo reported earlier from this location was still there on 10th but was
at the end of the park where the Powerful Owls roost. The cukoo was only
uttering its cricket like trill which is not easily heard unless close
and this was the only response to taped calls I could get from the bird,I
did not see the bird as it was high in the canopy above the semi
rainforest. There are afew pairs of White throated warblers nest building
in the park so the cuckoo might stay some days as this is their prefered
host. The Black Bittern was also in this area of the park also.
