Yes, I've not long returned from the USA, where I was sure, on the three
nights we planned to spend in the quiet countryside (in New Mexico), there
would perhaps be a few night birds calling, and was looking forward to their
Dawn Chorus. Neither happened!
I saw recently an advertisement for something like, "Take in the Dawn Chorus
at Gallipoli along with the Dawn Service". I wondered, after my US
experience, if they really have a dawn chorus there? Birders, do check,
before you pays your money!
Surely Gowrie Junction (where I live, west of Toowoomba, Qld) is not the
only place ... Where the Pied Butchie wakes you half an hour before dawn
from August to October, the Figbirds likewise in December, and with twenty
of more birds joining in each morning anyway, if you can get your wits about
you enough to count them off.
