The SW NC in Harriet's e-mail, is SW North Carolina, which would be a
considerable range extension for Yellow-bellied Glider.   She may not
have picked the most appropriate list to ask the question.

I thought of Eastern Screech-Owl but the "gurgling" doesn't sound correct.


On the subject of more topical birds,  my first Channel-billed Cuckoo
for the year, yesterday (Sept. 16) which is the earliest date for me
here in Glebe in inner Sydney.

I was curious if anyone IDed the bird on Peter Adderley's wav files
(http://www.acay.com.au/~adderley/birds/cbc/) My soundcard's currently
broken so I couldn't listen to the recordings
