Today was a great day for atlassing, so I went out and compiled the
following list from a 500m area search. Those of you who like puzzles
can guess where it is - extra penn gwenne points for those who can
nominate the lat/long as well as the area. [locals will be able to
identify the "give-away" species]

maned duck
black swan
little pied cormorant
great egret
pelican
white ibis
royal spoonbill
brahminy kite
whistling kite
purple fronted swamphen
caspian tern
bush thickknee
spur winged plover
crested pigeon
bar shouldered dove
peaceful dove
spotted turtle dove
feral pigeon
rainbow lorikeet
scaly breasted lorikeet
sulphur crested cockatoo
galah
pale headed rosella
pheasant coucal
laughing kookaburra
sacred kingfisher
striated pardalote
mangrove warbler
white throated warbler
noisy friarbird
brush wattlebird
brown honeyeater
scarlet honeyeater
eastern yellow robin
grey strike thrush
little strike thrush
rufous whistler
golden whistler
figbird
varied triller
black faced cuckoo shrike
drongo
grey fantail
willie wagtail
magpie
pied butcherbird
torresian crow
tree martin
welcome swallow
silvereye

The plovers had trailing balls of fluff and I think at least one of the
thickknees was sitting on some eggs - normally they run off when
approached, but this one stayed put when I approached to within two
metres and "hissed" at me. While its wings were folded, they were
"spread" slightly, as you'd expect for an incubating bird.
