Val, I too was at Shoreham on Wednesday, and like
you, I didn't see the Osprey which roosted in pines just
south of Cliff Road on Monday and Tuesday. The bird was seen by the ranger
Malcolm Legg & Brent Hall. It may have been around for awhile as about
a fortnight ago he saw a raptor which he now thinks was the Osprey. I
believe this is a first for the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port
Bay. Non Victorians may not realise that Ospreys are rare in this state.
I've seen just the one bird twice - at Portland.
I too was surprised to hear Bell
Miner there.
