G'day all

Andy Govanstone (Dept Natural Resources and Environment, Portland) is
coordinating the survey for Ground Parrots in south western Victoria.

I qoute from his message...

On Saturday afternoon/evening 25th August we are holding our 2nd Ground Parrot
survey at Long Swamp, east of Nelson. The cunning plan is to meet at the
corner of Quarry Rd. and Portland/Nelson rd at 3 pm, drive into Long Swamp,
provide participants with maps and allocate people to their positions, and
listen to GP calls on tape as familiarisation. People head off to their
destination to be sitting quiet by twilight ((6:00pm) ready for sunset at
6:30pm. People listen for approx. 1/2 hr after sunset for calls, then regroup
at the afternoon site to establish a count tally. Otherwise, if people dont
want to come back together afterwards because they're too far away they phone
their results in next day to me at 55218161.

Please contact Andy if you are interested in participating:

Cheers

Steve
