Yesterday afternoon I saw a bird which at first I dismissed as a blackbird walking around on our front lawn in Mount Waverley. However, it seemed a bit big and with too long a tail and I realised it was a Collared Sparrowhawk, which I confirmed with binoculars. It walked around on the lawn for about 5 minutes, occasionally going into some bushes, but not obviously hunting for anything. At one point it perched on a rock right next to the footpath. I don't know what it was up to.
