Yes the season was extended by a month this year, it is based on breeding recruitment which is why the season lenght varies from season to season. Possibly a vote getting exercise but the number of shooters is actually quite small. I'm not condoning the hunting of Magpie geese but the numbers of birds killed is only a small percentage of the population.
