Birding-Aussers

I have been off line for just over three weeks and so I have not posted any
Gold Coast bird reports.

A piece of non-birding advice. Do not try to live in a house that is
undergoing major renovations!!!

The strangest bird sightings on the Gold Coast recently include a Pink
Cockatoo and an Adelaide Rosella. Both are obviously escapees but certainly
caused a stir (after the Adelaide Rosella was identified!).

A club outing last Thursday was held in most unpleasant weather and we were
forced to decamp rapidly from several areas because of torrential range.
Still enough fine weather for more than 100 species to be sighted during the
day. There are still those who believe the Gold Coast is not good birding.

A Black-naped Tern was seen on 17 July at Jabiru Island. Atlas report and
URRL ready to be sent. This is far outside the range and fits with the
other three winter sightings mentioned in HANZAB.

If you are visiting or passing through the Gold Coast, the Gold Coast Bird
Observers have an outing every Thursday. Visitors are welcome. Contact
can be made through me.
