g'day all,

"The dried body of an Osprey was found in the East Leichhardt
River dam area in May 1967, apparently shot.
(This dam is about 40km to the East of Mount
Isa)
My first sighting was 14/7/99, after David Siems and Reg Clark
(who were passing thru town) rang me and told me a single bird was patrolling
the river alongside the Moondarra Caravan Park.
I saw and photographed the bird the following
day.
A few weeks ago I saw a pair with Murray Frich just below the
dam wall. One was eating a fish.
But today at 1.00pm, I saw a single bird perched on a street
light in a residential suburb.
It was still there after I returned from home to get my
camera.
A pool in the river would have been over 150 meters away,
but separated by a high hill.
How many sightings are needed before it loses its vagrant
status ?
