Hi all,
Due to rain and muddy conditions, last weekend's reveg working bee
at Gluepot was cancelled.
During the last few days, individuals in semi-organised form have been busy
planting trees and folding treeguards. We're going to make one more
consolidated effort to try and get the remainder of some 1,500 trees in the
ground, this coming Sunday the 21st.
We start at 9:00 am on at the homestead/registration shed. People who arrive
after that time will find directions on the whiteboard in the registration
shed. There will be a local reveg expert present "in charge" of the project.
Anyone is welcome to attend, do things at their own pace, jobs range from
cutting (wire) treeguards, folding them, digging (small) holes, carting
sand, planting trees, placing treeguards, watering.
It has been fine weather for a few days now and the outlook is fine & sunny
so there should be no problem for conventional vehicles to get to Gluepot.
There might be tw
or three rooms available on a first-in first served
basis, contact the Gluepot rangers on (08) 88929600. Otherwise there is
plenty of camping space. You will need to pick up a key from the Shell
station in Waikerie and from there it's about 1 to 1.5 hrs drive.
There is now a small entrance fee but members of BA or other Birdlife Int'l
organisations are exempt as are people who are doing voluntary work on the
reserve.
Check the website (url below) for further details, or contact me directly
via reply email.
Regards
Peter Waanders
