Dear all

Surveys on Friday, and a visitor from the UK on Sunday, brought sightings of some nice birds south and north west of Sydney  NSW

Friday 6 July - Kurnell area, south of Sydney

Metromix wetland, Cronulla, NSW  S. Emu Wrens at the righthand corner as you stand facing the water.


Sunday 8 July - Windsor area, north-west of Sydney

McGraths Hill Sewage works      15 Chestnut finches, pair A. Shovellers, 2 Brown Falcons

Cattai National Park,           1 Sea Eagle, Crested Shrike Tit, 2 Golden Bronze cuckoos, Intermediate
near Windsor, NSW               Egret, 2 Large-billed Corellas,   about 12 E.Grey Kangaroos

Mitchell Park (Nat.Park)        2 Jackie Winters just before entry
                        2 Glossy Black Cockatoos (at end of boardwalk walk round the corner
                            from the small 'bridge', eating alaucasuarina (sorry spelling !) cones
                        About 16 Nankeen Night Herons, including juveniles
                        King Parrots and Restless Flycatchers

Roadside on the left just before the righthand turning  to Mitchell Park - 5 Brown Quail in the verge.

Pitt Town Lagoon                3 Glossy  Ibis
                        2 Red-kneed Dotterels
                        16 Pink-eared Ducks
                        Pair A. Shovellers
                        1 Azure Kingfisher     
                        Very high numbers of Masked Lapwings - 50+

Drove around the turf farms but didn't see the Banded Lapwings, and surprisingly few raptors, although it was after 3.30 pm at this time and getting rather grey.
