There have been lots of Bittern sightings from around the state, especially in the Geelong Region.

Congratulations to Michael Norris for becoming a Blue Star contributor.  Michael knows everything there is to know about birds in the Bayside area of Melbourne, thanks for you contribution Michael.

5 July
A pair of Brolgas were seen between Beacc and Cressy today - about 8Km west of Cressy and the eastern side of the road, thanks Dean Woodford

4 July
An Australasian Bittern was was found dead on the road near the Salt swamp on the road from Barwon Heads to Geelong, and also on 4 July another was found injured on the road near the Bream creek bridge at Breamlea, thanks Margaret Cameron

1 July
A Pale-headed Rosella, probably an escapee from the Zoo was seen at Royal Park in Melbourne, thanks Tim Dolby

An Azure Kingfisher was seen at Yarra Bend Park, near Kane's Bridge, along the Macfarlene Walk, thanks Tim Dolby

Pied Currawongs have been reported in unprecedented numbers from around the City of Bayside, including a report of 5 being fed by someone!  All of the birds that have been carefully studied have been immatures on the basis of brown tips to their secondaries, thanks Michael Norris

In the City of Bayside Gang Gang Cockatoos have been seen at Elsternwick Park (4), and near Dendy Park (12), all of the sightings in Bayside since the end of April have been in association with Sugar Gums, thanks Michael Norris

9 Australasian Bittern were seen by wader counters at Reedy lake near Geelong, thanks Margaret Cameron

A pair of Whistling Kites around a large Red Gum tree on the shore of Lake Cairn Curran near Newstead in central Victoria, thanks John Alexander

An Australasian Bittern was seen at Alcoa's sewage ponds at Point Henry, thanks Margaret Cameron

2 Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters in trees alongside Yarra River south-west of Westgate Park,  Port Melbourne, thanks Richard Nowotny

2 Gang Gang Cockatoos were seen at Wheatsheaf Rd Glenroy, thanks Joy Tansey

A Bush Thick-Knee was seen on a bush track 8 kilometres north of Bealiba, central west Victoria, thanks Simon Kennedy

A Singing Honeyeater was seen at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, the bird had a very definite russet cap, thanks Margaret Bell

A Great Crested Grebe was seen on the north-western arm of Greenvale Reservoir, Greenvale, thanks Richard Nowotny

A southerly sighting of a Pied Butcherbird was reported from Kellalac between Horsham and Warracknabeal, thanks Steve Clark

A single European Greenfinch in riverside vegetation on the Avon River at Bushy Park near Boisdale, thanks Duncan Fraser

On the regular survey of the Eastern Treatment Plant in Carrum the now regular winter visitor Little Eagle was seen with some unusual winter visitors in a White-winged Triller and 4 Fairy Martins, thanks Mike Carter
