Hi all,
Here's the trip report for the Eaglehawk Neck pelagic (Tasmania) that sailed
on Friday 22nd June 2001. Unfortunately the scheduled trip for Sunday 24th
was cancelled because of 60 knot winds and 7m swells (with a 3m chop).

HIGHLIGHTS: A Grey Petrel that made several passes through our wake soon
after arriving at the shelf provided some excitement. Later we were joined
by this or another Grey Petrel that made a number of close passes down both
sides of the boat (in good light) before landing briefly out the back. The
Grey Backed Storm-Petrels were equally obliging. Also of note was that
Buller's Albatross was the dominant albatross for the day.
ACTIVITY and CONDITIONS: Group charter aboard the 'Pauletta' skippered by
John Males. Departed Pirates Bay 0730 reaching the shelf break at 0910.
Burleyed at 43 11.96 S, 148 15.15 E before heading for Tasman Island at
about 1100. Joined a small fishing vessel from 1240-1300 before heading back
to Hippolyte Rock and then into Pirates Bay. Docked at 1545. Seas 3-3.5 m
swell at shelf with 1-2 m chop. Wind: 20 knot south-westerly inshore
increasing to 30 knots at shelf. Cloud cover patchy breaking up to be mostly
sunny in the afternoon.
