I thought I'd add to Tania Ireton's report on the Edithvale Wetlands (in the SE suburbs of Melbourne) which highlighted the occurrence there of a Collared Sparrowhawk. They often seem to occur there, and in the less urban area of Mt Eliza where I live, in June. Winter wanderers I suppose.
Other notable occurrences among the 58 species recorded on our monthly census of these Wetlands on 11 June, which covered all of both North and South,
included 9 Australasian Bittern, 24 Blue-billed Duck, 2 Buff-banded Rail (previously only a summer visitor), 2 Spotless Crakes (responding to played tape), 1 Clamorous Reed Warbler (normally strictly an abundant summer visitor) & 15 Flame Robin. In this area it's a good year for Flame Robins. Peter Lansley saw c.23 at Seaford Swamp  in May.
