Dear birders

Doing my monthly Atlas at Eve Street and Riverina wetland (Arncliffe/Rockdale south of Sydney) Saturday 16th June, the Black-shouldered Kites are once more nesting in one of the Norfolk Pines so kindly spared by the RTA (along with lots of Red-rumped Parrots) at Eve St., and at Riverina, there was a Striated Heron stalking in the concrete drain that runs past the pond, and a lone Shoveller with the Chestnut Teal and Black-winged Stilts on the water.

Sunday 17th June, from Long Reef, there were 10 or more Sooty Oystercatchers out on the point at high tide in the afternoon - one with leg bands - yellow on left and red over white on right - for the banders to note please. Also lots of Black-browed Albatross and a few Yellow-billed off the point and large groups of Gannets in flight. Couldn't see any petrels or shearwaters but two guys with 'scopes were keeping a vigil so maybe they found some.
