There is "A Dictionary of Scientific Bird Names" , published by Oxford in the US in 1991 author James A. Jobling. ISBN 0-19-854634-3. That has the translation of the individual words of the name. eg Australian Magpie, Gymnorhina tibicen. Gymnorhina Gr gumnos, bare, naked; rhinos, the nostril.. Tibicen L tubicen, a trumpeter.
