Of possible interest re home bird lists, I got a new bird for our back garden
the other day: a first-year Australasian Grebe flapping down drive in suburban
Viewbank (Melbourne), pursued by cat. I think it must have landed on garage
roof at night (full moon). We rescued it and released it uninjured at Banyule
Flat. It pattered happily over the Azolla, landed on open water and had a long
drink, then swam off strongly and greeted some of its friends. Cheers, Richard.
