Updated on the 28.5.01. A Forest Kingfisher is present at the Shortland
Wetland Centre near Newcastle. Another rarity was a Black Noddy seen at Long
Reef on the 27th but no sign of it the next day. There is a pair of Scarlet
Robins at the small cemetery on the Sackville Ferry Road, North Sackville.
Six Glossy Black Cockatoos were present at the Gilgandra Flora Reserve on
the 19th. A late Arctic Jaeger was seawatched off Maroubra on the 26th with
a Swamp Harrier, two Brown Falcons, Greenfinch and several Lewin's Rails the
next day at Magic Point.
A pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles were near Bobbin Head on the 27th. Late
White-breasted Woodswallows were present at the North Entrance on the 14th.
Pink-eared Ducks and Shovelers are at the Dairy Swamp, Tuggerah. 40
Chestnut-breasted Mannikins are at the Ourimbah Rest Area on the F3
motorway. 15 White-backed Swallows were seen at Jerry's Plains. There are
still 6-8 Turquoise Parrots at Laughtondale Gully Road 300 metres from the
Maroota-Wiseman's Ferry Road. Other reports include Topknot Pigeons and Grey
Goshawk at Erina Heights, three unidentified Prions off Norah Head on the
19th and a high count of 260 Straw-necked Ibis at the Wyong Turf Farms.
