Hi,
Last Sunday at 3pm, we went to the beach around from the main boat ramp for Botany Bay at Penrhyn Rd (Banksmeadow NSW), to have a look at the Red-capped plovers - and enjoyed some incidental theatrics.
First of all, a Little Penguin swam up and down the length of the beach at only a couple of metres out, its outline clearly visible between its surfacings. It even swam between a casting fisherman and the shore.
Not long after, an Australian Hobby chased a feral pigeon from nearby bushes and way out into the distance across towards Brighton-le-Sands, twice nearly bringing it down.
Quite a show.
Not sure how frequently the Little Penguins are sighted in Botany Bay.
Regards
Lynn & Bruce Roubin
