Hi all... Lorne ere...
1. In July I'm going to The Philippines in search of the Haribon, aka
Monkey-eating/Philippine Eagle. I cannot wait!!!!!!!! I have yet to
purchase a field guide for the Philippines and would appreciate any info
on the avifauna of the area. I've been off birding-aus for two weeks,
and may have missed some peoples messages re. my earlier request for
this.
2. Spent last weekend in the Blue Mountains. Highlights...
(a) BEAUTIFUL FIRETAIL - Only the 2nd ever time I've seen one. Watched
it fleetingly in a heath-ish patch by the dirt road leading down to the
Pierces Pass parking area, off Bell's Line of Road.
(b) LYREBIRD - One down from Evan's Lookout in gorge leading to Grand
Canyon. At the bottom of this gorge there were several yabbies, the
colour of fluro orange textas!
(c) ORIGMA - Evan's Lookout again. Before descending track to gorge, in
open sclerophyll woodland. Very close to me.
3. Had a BROWN GOSHAWK flying over Oakhill College at Castle Hill,
where I work, at about 12 today. 2nd time I've seen one up here.
Peace,
L.
