Birdline Victoria Update
for the week ending 16/4/01 During an extremely busy week with not nearly enough time for birding, some not so rare, as unusual and interesting birds have been reported to Birdline. I hope everyone had a safe Easter and return with lots of great bird sightings for Birdline. 15 April Around 7 Gang Gang Cockatoos have been sighted in Frankston flying east towards the former Karingal High School site, thanks Paul Taylor 14 April 2 immature White-Bellied Sea-Eagles were seen upstream of the Bushy Park bridge near Boisdale on the Avon River, thanks Duncan Fraser 7 April 3 Brolgas (2 adults and 1 Juvenile) were seen at Reedy Lake on the Bellarine Peninsula, thanks Ian Montgomery 2 April Cattle Egrets have returned to Hamilton in South-west Victoria, at a similar time to previous years, thanks Steve Clark. 1 April 3 White-browed Babblers at Elphinstone, 15 km east of Castlemaine, thanks Bob & Sadhana Cook. 31 March A Black Kite was sighted at Point Cook, which is significant for its proximity to Melbourne, thanks Peter Crabtree 29 March A Black Bittern was sighted at the Wingan Inlet, on the Wingan River at Croajingalong National Park, thanks Ian Temby Birdline Victoria is a service for birdwatchers to report and find out about rare and unusual birds in Victoria and is brought to you by the VicGroup of Birds Australia.
