Harry: I recommend two sources: Hunter, C.P. and Dwyer, P.D. 1997. The value of objects to Satin Bowerbirds... Emu 97:200-206 Davis, W.J. 1999. On the significance of bowers. IB Bulletin Vol. 2 no. 6 I hope these references help. If you can't find a copy of the IB Bulletin, I can probably send you one as a PDF file or post the relevant article on our website. I am not sure if I would call marauding an instinct ... interesting idea.
